DO NOT KNOCK!!

Fed up with door-to-door sales persons knocking on your door, trying to get you to change your gas, electricity or telephone company, or to buy something?

There are things you can do:

  1. Put a ‘DO NOT KNOCK’ sticker on your door – if a salesperson still knocks on your door, get their name, company they are working for, make a note of the time and date, and then contact the Footscray Community Legal Centre on 9689 8444. Stickers are available at the Braybrook & Maidstone Neighbourhood House.

  2. Do not give any personal details, or even get into a discussion, either on the phone or at your door with any salesperson.

  3. Don’t sign anything! If you find that you have signed a contract you still have 10 days ‘cooling off’ period. This means you can change your mind and stop the contract. Do not agree to changes to the contract over the phone. Get advice as quickly as possible - call the Footscray Community Legal Centre on 9689 8444.
